About

Abdul Basith Basheer is a current graduate student in the Department of History at UIC, working with Dr. Junaid Quadri. Born to immigrant parents from Hyderabad, India and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, he is a former engineering and history undergraduate student at UIC. His research is concerned with Islam in America, and the ways American Muslims have conceived of their institutions, intellectual traditions, and culture. He is currently working as a Project Coordinator for the Muslim Chaplaincy at UIC, in partnership with the Arab American Cultural Center, aiming to bring a Muslim Chaplain to UIC's campus.
